    What can you do when a doctor discloses your personal information in front of another person?

    It really depends on the information that was disclosed and who it was disclosed to and the circumstances of the disclosure. You may have an action under HIPAA depending upon the nature of the disclosure.

    Then again, it could be the equivalent of no harm, no foul and there would be no action.

    One thing you can't do is undo the disclosure so the question is what do you want to do?

    Do you want to sue to punish the doctor? Do you want to try to gain financially? If so, consult a lawyer, disclose the facts of what happened and determine if an action is possible.
